Shift Patterns Overview (Advanced License)

Overview of Shift Patterns and the Pattern Selector

Shift Patterns provide a way to automatically apply shifts to the Scheduler with a specified pattern. This article contains a list of descriptions for the related settings to assist with the configuration of Shift Patterns.   

Navigation:


1. Select EasyScheduling from the Product Menu

2. Click a    Schedule Plan in the Left Nav to expand the options and select Shift Patterns

 

 

3. Select an Assignment Group. Click here to learn about the Assignment Group  Hierarchy.

 

  •  Company – Applies to the whole company 
  •  Group – Applies to a group of employees such as a particular location or department
  •  Employee – Select one or more employees for individual application

 

Overview

 

Setting Description
Rule Name Name of the Rule to be displayed in the Shift Patterns List
Rule Effective Start Date Date the Shift Pattern goes into effect
Schedule Plan  Schedule Plan actively selected
Employee Shift vs Open Shift
  • Employee Shift - Add an employee shift pattern to be assigned to employees
  • Open Pattern - Add an open shift pattern that can be taken by eligible employees

Location/Department/Position/ etc. (Criteria)

Select criteria to filter eligible employees
Color Display color of the shift on the scheduler
Start Time Start time of the shift
End TIme End time of the shift
Shift Type
  • Same Day - 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM
    • Shift is within the span of 1 calendar day
  • Overnight - Shift crosses midnight
    • Shift is within a 24 hour period
  • Two Days - Shift length between 24 and 48 hours
  • Three Days - Length is between 48 and 72 hours
Break (min) Define the break length within the shift
Employee Shift Notes Leave a note for employees to see in the Shift Details
Is Critical? Marks shift as "Critical" for classification and workflow decisions
On Call? Marks shift as "On Call" for classification and workflow decisions
Pattern Starts on Start date of the Shift Pattern
Pattern Ends on

End date of the Shift Pattern

If Infinite, Shift Patterns will be assigned to employees infinitely 

 

Pattern Selector 

 

Setting Description
Recurrence Type
  • Daily - Shift Pattern is assigned to employees every day
  • Weekly - Shift Pattern is assigned to the selected days of the week
  • Monthly - Shift Pattern is repeated on the selected day of the month
  • Days ON and Days OFF - 
    • On = Define how many days employees will be ON (working)
    • Off = Define How many days employees will be OFF (not working)
  • Custom Cycle - Define a custom cycle using "S" or "O" 
    • S = Scheduled 
    • O = Off 
      • Each letter represents a day
  • Advanced - Use the selector to specify a pattern
Time Zones Select the Time Zone the Shift Pattern's Shifts will be worked in
Time The time that the schedules will be published to the Scheduler
Publish Behavior
  • Publish With Workflow - The system will publish the schedules automatically using the default or customized Scheduling Publish Workflow (notifications will be sent to employees)
  • Publish Without Workflow - The system will publish the schedules automatically without using the Scheduling Publish Workflow (no notifications will be sent to employees)


 

If an employee belongs to another Schedule Plan, no shifts will be added if an overlap is found
