The Assignment Scope Hierarchy
When creating or editing a rule, it is important to understand the Assignment Scope Hierarchy
Employee may also be referred to as "Time Clock" or "Kiosk" in other parts of the software
More than simply assigning a rule to the entire company, a group of employees, or particular individuals, the assignments have different priorities. These priorities may prevent necessary changes from being made in the future.
Employee
If a rule is assigned to an Employee, only an Employee rule can override it.
- To apply a new Company or Group rule, the Employee rule must be archived
Group
If a rule is assigned to a Group, only a Group or Employee rule can override it.
- To apply a new Company rule, the Group rule must be archived
Company
If a rule is assigned to the Company, a Company, Group, or Employee rule can override it.
- By default you can set a company rule that applies to all employees, and the rule set can be fine tuned down the hierarchy
